Senior Project:
Senior Project at DeVry Institute of Technology (Summer 1997).
Senior Project Status: Completed on November 1, 1997.
Description: WestCliff Intranet Control System (WICS). We are creating seven databases in Access linked to a web page using Cold Fusion 3.0. I can not give details at this point for security reason but, trust me, it is a bitching project of four members that are trying to get their bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems. Members: Andy Tsang, Hao Ho, Phu Nguyen and Esteban Cazarez.
Check out our Senior Project: Yes, let me see your Senior Project!
Past Projects:
1. Created ten databases in Dbase IV.
2. Created an inventory control system for CIS67 (Seminar Class) in Access 2.0 for my Associate in Science Degree in CIS.
3. Coded over 50 C++ programs, 40 Visual Basic programs, 10 RPG programs, 13 COBOL programs, 10 SQL databases using oracle, 40 databases using dBase IV.
4. Sold 3 programs coded in Access 2.0 to a mechanic shop.
5. Total Computer Lab hours exceeded over 700
hours.

WESTCLIFF PROJECT OVERVIEW (STUDY PHASE REPORT)
System Title: WestCliff Intranet Control System (WICS)
Situation Statement and Project Purpose:
WestCliff Corporation is a private company that analyzes and tests samples of blood for general hospitals and private doctors. Our project consists of finding a way to retrieve data stored in one location to all departments that need it.
Currently, all WestCliff employees download results of their tests from workstations called Multiple Application Technologist Workstation (MATS). MATS converts all raw data from a Windows NT server to different databases. The disadvantage of MATS is that data is accessed in one location of the building. Information Systems contains 5 workstations that can access all data needed by employees. However, employees often complain that the waiting time is too long because other coworkers also benefit from the lab tests. The company is willing to accept our help in designing a new way to transfer read-only data for all departments by Intranet.
Specific Problems of the Current System:
1. One location to retrieve data is not enough for all lab technicians.
2. The access time is slow and hard to understand due to the source edit utility program they have called DESQview.
3. MATS consist of several processes, called engines that slow down computer access at run-time in order to interface clinical analyzers.
4. MATS runs under a DOS controller program that simulates a multitasking environment or what we called a DOS shell environment.
5. The DESQview contains many commands to retrieve data. It is often a problem for technicians to learn how to work manual reference book.
6. Since the database does not contain a security program, employees often corrupt data by accident.
Specifics Objectives:
1. Create several databases for the project.
2. Create a web page to access the database.
3. Link the web page with the database using Cold Fusion.
4. Collect partial data for testing and debugging.
5. The database will consist of eight tests with a search panel implemented in the database as well as in web page.
6. Keep track of all sample test data using numeric test codes.
7. The table will also contain a payroll database for all employees.
8. The program was made for Windows NT.
